To the Editor:
On behalf of the 2012 After Prom Committee members, I would like to extend a very big and heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in this year's event. The event was a huge success due to the many donations given - whether of time, talent, monetary or actual items for prizes or food.
The After Prom Event is an important part of the Prom activities because it provides high school students an alcohol and drug-free environment to gather with their classmates after the dance. All Webster City High School junior and senior students are invited to attend regardless if they participated in the dance festivities.
We think it is important to note that, as in years past, the After Prom Committee worked very hard to purchase every item for the event locally. Over $4,500 was put back into our local economy through the purchase of prizes, food, and other miscellaneous items needed to put on the After Prom Event.
To the parents that donated their time and talents to make the event run smoothly for your child and their classmates, thank you. To the WC School administration and staff members that assisted with coordinating the facilities, thank you. To the businesses that see the value in providing a safe environment for our students to come together, thank you. To the students that attended the event and showed their appreciation to the Senior parents and other family members that worked hard to put on the event, thank you.
On a personal note, thank you to the Event committee chairs - Colleen Shannon, Kathy Davis, Marlys Carlson and Regan Dawson. Your hard work, strong organizational skills and great ideas, made this event run smoothly.
