May 3, 2012
The Daily Freeman Journal

STANHOPE - A fundraiser barbecue to raise awareness of a rare form of vasculitis called Takayasu's Arteritis is planned for May 12 in the Stanhope city park.

This fundraiser will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. All the money raised will be donated to The Vasculitis Foundation in Kansas City, Mo., for research to help find a cure.

Takyasu's Arteritis is an inflammation of large blood vessels, which is more common in women than in men. In fact, 80 to 90 percent of all cases occur in women. This disease can strike people from the ages of 10 to 40 years old, but can also affect younger children and even infants. For more information, visit their website at www.vasculitisfoundation.org.

At the Stanhope event, T-shirts, bracelets, food and key chains will be sold. A car wash and bake sale are also planned. Robert Walters of Heavy B DJ will provide music from 2 to 5 p.m.

Organizers are trying to get a ball-park figure on how many people might attend. Those planning to attend are asked to call (515)?310-0409.
