Governor signs firefighter credit

April 30, 2012
The Daily Freeman Journal
Iowa’s volunteer firefighters and emergency medical services personnel can claim a $50 annual tax credit beginning in 2013 in recognition of the valuable services they provide to the people of Iowa. On Friday Gov. Branstad signed Senate File 2322 into law, after it was approved by a vote of 50-0 in the Iowa Senate and 96-1 in the Iowa House. On hand for the bill signing were legislators and along with emergency personnel from around the state. From left to right: Sen. Jeff Danielson, a firefighter for the city of Cedar Falls; Brad Yeager, of Forest City, third vice president of the Iowa Firefighters Association; volunteer firefighter Rick Landgrebe, of Sigourney; Rep. Steve Luken, of New Vienna; Elsa Yeager, of Forest City; Jack Runge, of Buckeye, IFA president; Sen. Tom Hancock of Epworth, a past IFA president; Ellen Hagen, of Jewell, a past IFA president; Gov. Terry Branstad; and, Sen. Bill Dotzler, of Waterloo.
