WEBSTER CITY - Moving his opponent around the court with his ground strokes, Tom Wangkham was able to storm to an easy singles victory yesterday at the WCHS courts.
But Wangkham was alone in his celebration, as the Webster City boys' tennis team dropped five of six singles matches and went on to lose to North Polk, 7-2.
Wangkham easily rolled by Nich Obermolte 10-1. He later teamed up with Dilan Griffin to secure Webster City's only doubles victory a 10-6 romp past Brandon Anderson and Kris Bower.
Griffin claimed six games in his No. 6 singles match against Bower, as did the Lynx No. 1 player, Jared Doolittle, in a loss to Wyatt Houge.
Doolittle and Derek Turner teamed up to drop the No. 1 doubles match, 10-7, to Houge and Michael Rimathe.
