WEBSTER CITY - The Clear Lake girls' golf team easily chipped and putted its way past a pair of North Central Conference opponents yesterday at the Webster City Links, and the Lions did it without their top player figuring into the final outcome.
Clear Lake's No. 1 golfer Meg Monson was disqualified for signing an incorrect scorecard, but the remainder of the Lions' roster stepped up to post a 184, more than good enough to beat Clarion-Goldfield (201) and Webster City (245).
The Lions' Malorie Fishels and Paige Backhaus shared the runner-up medalist honor, as both shot 45. Teammates Lexi Lovik and Taylor Berger tied for fourth on the leaderboard with matching 47s.

Clarion-Goldfield's Mikaela Livengood took the top individual spot with a 44.
Senior Maddy Miller again led Webster City with a 54. Shannon Swon turned in her lowest round of the season a 59 while Maricruz Arriola struggled with an injury and carded a 64. Taylor Chamberlin added a 68.
Webster City will return to its home course on Friday when Eagle Grove comes to town for a league dual. Tee time has been set for 4 p.m.
