CLEAR LAKE - Chilly temperatures and changes to the lineup didn't suit the Webster City boys' tennis team in an 8-1 loss to Clear Lake in a dual meet here yesterday.
The Lynx were without Tom Wangkham, the team's No. 4 singles player, due to sickness. His absence forced a shift throughout the Nos. 3-6 slots.
Christian Hippen spoiled Clear Lake's bid for a shutout with a victory in the No. 6 bout. He knocked off Andrew Davis, 10-7.
Chris Pergande also took seven games off Luke Schiller before falling in the No. 3 match, as did Derek Turner against Paul Raner in the No. 2 match.
Webster City claimed five victories on the junior varsity courts. Blake Nelson, Zach Daniels, Vishal Chaudhari, Ben Grimshaw and Avery Hopp were all winners.
