BURNSIDE - Only nine guys suited up, and yet the Northeast Hamilton boys' track team still managed to pile up 70 points to join Newell-Fonda in third-place at last night's Southeast Webster-Grand Eagle Relays.
Gold medal showings from Clay Harreld and Tyler Smith set the tone, as the Trojans placed in the top three on eight occasions.
"It was nice to see how we would run against Class 1A schools to see where we stand. It gave us a little glimpse of what districts may look like, and I thought we did well," NEH head coach Josh Vanderloop said.
South Central Calhoun stood atop the eight-team field with 130 points. Woodward-Granger was second with 88.
Harreld cleared 6 feet, 2 inches to win the high jump, and he went on to place second in 200-meter dash (24.21 seconds) and third in the 100 (11.76).
Smith started the open 800 (2:12.57) at the front of the field and that's where he ended as well. He was also second in the 400 (55.53).
