Fern Geneva Branch, daughter of James and Mabel Read Branch, was born August 24, 1921 at Stanhope. She graduated from Stanhope High School in 1938 and Capital City Commercial College in Des Moines in 1940. She married Burt Richardson on November 27, 1941 at St. Thomas Catholic Church parsonage. Fern volunteered at Crestview Senior Living for many years, helping residents with craft projects and card playing. Her love for people is reflected in the many formal and informal communities and bonds she fostered among friends and family.
