The Daily Freeman Journal

The Friends of the Kendall Young Library have received funding from Humanities Iowa to host a one-man play called "The Not So Quiet Librarian" in the library meeting room on April 18 at 6:30 pm.

Tom Milligan, an award-winning professional actor, will present the 30-minute play about Forrest Spaulding, the director of the Des Moines Public Library in the early 20th century, and the author of the "Library of Bill of Rights."

The play portrays Spaulding's humor as well as his devotion to libraries and to civil rights.

A brief "Friends of the Library" business meeting will precede the play. Refreshments will be served. The public is welcome. For more information, call the library at 832-9100.
