Lynx denied third straight team title by Algona, must settle for second at Charlie Bunn Relays

Parks sets another meet record in 200, also wins 100 and anchors 4x100 to top

HUMBOLDT - Two nights after clipping North Central Conference rival Algona to take the team title at the Umstead Relays in Eagle Grove, the Webster City boys' track team was on the receiving end of the disappointing finish here last night.

Algona returned the favor by a margin of two points at the Charlie Bunn Relays, as the Bulldogs piled up 117 points to the Lynx 115 in the seven-team field.

Manson-Northwest Webster was third (107) and a disqualification in the 4x400-meter relay away from topping both NCC programs.

"You never want to lose, but we knew Algona was going to step it up and they did," WCHS head coach Tony Bussan said. "It wasn't a case of what we didn't do right because I thought we ran pretty well. They just raised their level of performance."

WCHS again turned to a trio of seniors to bulk of its point total.

Sprinter Keagan Parks won two more individual gold medals in the 100- and 200-meter dashes. He turned in a time of 11.00 seconds in the 100 and a meet-record clocking of 22.24 in the 200.
