Dermand — 60 years

Gus and Nancy Dermand, of Webster City, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Friday, March 23.

On March 23, 1952, Gus Dermand and Nancy Parrish were married at St. George's Greek Orthodox Church in Des Moines. Gus served in the navy, then came home to help run Dermand's Cafe. After retiring, he worked for the schools, has been the mayor of Webster City, and served on the city council. Nancy has been a nurse in some capacity most of her life, including working as school nurse. Nancy worked for the public health office, helped start the hospice program in Webster City and is currently on the hospital board.

They have three children: Steve Dermand, of Indianola; Beth Alt, of Seward, Neb.; and Emily Dermand, of Ankeny. They have ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren with another on the way.
