Response from SH to NEH

March 12, 2012
The Daily Freeman Journal

To the Editor:

Northeast Hamilton Students and Parents:

It was both a huge disappointment and shock to us when the Northeast Hamilton School Board decided to end negotiations with South Hamilton CSD at their board meeting on Thursday, March 8th. We have truly enjoyed the opportunity to work on this union, to meet parents, and to get to know all the students.

Please don't interpret our silence at the NEH board meeting as not supporting a SH/NEH sharing agreement. We informed the NEH superintendent and school soard that we would be present at the NEH board meeting to answer any and all questions anyone may have. We felt it was important to follow protocol at the board meeting and wait to be called upon by the NEH superintendent or the board before we spoke. We know we could have answered many questions and made the communication much more transparent. Unfortunately, this did not take place. We have been and always will be willing to answer any questions from students, parents and patrons.

Although we are disappointed that the negotiations towards a final sharing agreement will not continue, we wish you all the best in the future decisions made on behalf of the NEH CSD. NEH is blessed with great students, parents and community support. Good luck and thank you for the opportunity to explore a union that would have made both districts stronger.

Tim Johnson,

South Hamilton CSD

superintendent,

Scott Dryer,

South Hamilton CSD

7-12 principal and

Mike Grove,

South Hamilton CSD
