An open house for the new Upper Des Moines Opportunity executive director will be held Feb. 16 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Hamilton County office, 1440 E. Second St., Webster City.
Jamey Whitney, an Iowa native, moved back from Girard, Kan. and began his duties in late January. Whitney has a Master of Social Work degree and had previously worked as an adjunct professor of social policy analysis at Pittsburg State University in Kansas, and an assessment director of development at Neosho County Community College.
UDMO Board President Doug Bailey said that hiring Whitney concluded a three-month search and selection process.
"Whitney was selected from a field of well-qualified local and national respondents. His talents and prior experiences are a good fit for UDMO, our current services and the directions we want to explore," said Bailey.
