As most of us sat in our warm homes last weekend, there were many hard-working individuals who were out in the cold making sure vital services were not interrupted.
There were postal carriers and newspaper carriers who trudged through the snow to make sure mail and the daily news arrived as usual.
Last weekend's snowstorm also served as a reminder of how important Webster City's street and line department workers and the Hamilton County secondary roads crews are to making our lives a little easier on those cold, snowy mornings.
Often working well before most of the community is even awake and in some of Iowa's harshest conditions, these crews work together to make sure citizens can safely get through the streets to work, school or other appointments.
Hats off to all of those people who make winter a little more bearable in Hamilton County.
