Tough decision ahead

January 20, 2012
The Daily Freeman Journal

The Northeast Hamilton school board has some tough decisions ahead. The board members will hold a special meeting Thursday to decide which area school district will be the NEH partial-day sharing partner.

That partner will either be Webster City schools or South Hamilton schools. Community meetings have been held to provide the district's patrons with information about both districts, as well as why the move was necessary. Each of the potential partner districts opened its doors to parents and community members to visit, tour the facilities and talk with administrators and staff. NEH students had a chance to shadow their peers at each school. The administration from both districts also gave presentations at community meetings held in Blairsburg. NEH officials also brought a school administrator from Paton-Churdan schools to offer insights into the sharing options.

The Daily Freeman-Journal applauds the NEH school board's efforts to do what is best for the students. The school board and administration have done their due diligence in researching sharing options.
