Thanks to AARP for providing tips to protect Medicare

January 11, 2012
The Daily Freeman Journal

To the Editor:

As a volunteer for Elderbridge Agency on Aging Senior Medicare Patrol program, I'd like our community to know that volunteers are hard at work, informing local elders and their family caregivers how to protect their Medicare benefits and cut down on taxpayer money lost to healthcare fraud and incorrect payments.

Recently, Iowa AARP assisted our Senior Medicare Patrol by donating 2012 calendars with the theme "Fight Healthcare Fraud." SMP has been able to give these calendars to thousands of Iowa's Medicare beneficiaries. The calendar offers 12 monthly, down-to-earth tips to protect Medicare and help seniors avoid scams. We'd like to thank Iowa AARP for helping us keep Iowa's seniors in the know.

Elderbridge Agency on Aging can arrange for a Senior Medicare Patrol presentation for community groups at no charge. Call (641) 424-0678 to request a speaker and we still have a few calendars left to give out.
