Another successful year noted

December 7, 2011
The Daily Freeman Journal

To the editor:

This year was a very successful year for the Wilson Brewer Historic Park.

We had a record number of visitors, with at least one-third being from out of town. We conducted tours for school classes, family reunions, class reunions, civic groups, organizations and Cub Scouts.

The August event, Heritage Appreciation Day, brought in record crowds from central Iowa. The third annual Ghost Walk also set new records, with many out of town visitors. Our special Veterans Day event proved to be the best event of the year. The newly renovated military room was the big draw, with uniforms, medals and other memorabilia from local veterans.

I would like to thank all of the volunteers that made the season so successful. Also, I would like to thank all of the veterans and others that donated items to the museum this year.

I would like to give a special thanks to the Hotel-Motel Tax Committee for including us. This is what makes the museum available to the public. We want to continue to share the very historic tale of Hamilton County and Webster City. We have a very special museum for a small town. Please visit us next season. We open again in May.

We are always accepting items that pertain to Webster City and Hamilton County. Of particular interest are items from local businesses, organizations or families. We have also started to prepare for the 100-year Anniversary of Boy Scouts. If you have anything to donate, please contact us at 297-0273.
