Thanksgiving is just around the corner, with Christmas not far behind. That means it is time for area residents to remember the less fortunate during the holidays.
Dozens of charitable organizations seek help this time of the year to provide toys for needy children, Thanksgiving and Christmas feasts for down-on-their-luck families, and necessities such as warm clothing for adults who need a hand through no fault of their own.
But times are tougher than they have been for some time. Fewer people are donating to holiday help programs.
Opportunities to help are all around us. Please, make a generous contribution today, or at least within the next week.
The Thanksgiving-Christmas season should be one of joy for all in our area.But that won't happen unless we as a community make it so. Let's make the holidays a time of celebration - not a period we look back on with regret because we didn't help.
