A success farmers market season

November 7, 2011
The Daily Freeman Journal

To the editor:

I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to all the farmers market vendors and community members who came down each Saturday morning and made this market season a great success.

It was a joy to visit the market each weekend and see the great selection of items each vendor offered. As the season progressed, the market got bigger and better, offering a wide variety of farm fresh seasonal produce, rich golden yolked eggs, delicious baked goods, crafts, beautiful note cards, wood items, outdoor landscaping decor, etc. We also had a master gardener from the Iowa State Extension office available once a month to answer any gardening questions.

If you didn't have an opportunity to visit the market this past season, make sure to put it on your calendar for next year. The market will run from late May through the end of October in the City Hall Plaza.

Have your seen our new sign located in the front corner of the plaza??We were able to procure the sign thanks to Prairie Rivers RC&D. We also got a banner to hang over Superior Street during next year's market season.

Hope to see you there next year. It's a great way to start your day.
