Webster City has much to be proud of in its young people, not the least of which is its sports teams. This has been the most successful fall season for sports in recent memory.
The Lynx varsity football squad completed their season Monday with a 9-2 record. In fact every Webster City football team from middle school through high school turned in remarkable records.
Not to be outdone, the Lynx cross country boys team won its second consecutive North Central Conference title, and qualified for the state meet for the first time since 2007. The volleyball team also shined this year, and brought home its first NCC title in 25 years.
Just down the road, the Northeast Hamilton Trojan football team also fared well throughout its season. It was the eighth consecutive playoff appearance for the Trojans, finishing 9-2.
The dedication, commitment, leadership and team skills learned in school sports are qualities that these students can carry with them throughout their lives.
The Daily Freeman-Journal salutes these athletes and the many other students who learn and grow through extra-curricular activities.
