This fall marks the 20th anniversary of Hamilton County S.E.E.D., an entity that has provided support and education to businesses in communities across the county, helping them grow and thrive, while at the same time, S.E.E.D., has worked to attract new business to the area.
Early on, the organization partnered with Main Street Iowa to create a county-wide downtown revitalization program. It was the first such organization in the nation and is the only program of its type in the state of Iowa. While every community in the county was at one time involved in Main Street Iowa, currently Ellsworth, Jewell and Stratford are involved in the program.
As S.E.E.D. celebrates this milestone year, the Daily Freeman-Journal salutes the organization, its board and the community volunteers who have put forth hard work and frequently sweat equity to accomplish great things in Hamilton County.
