To the Editor:
This year's Heritage Appreciation Day will be held Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Wilson Brewer Museum Complex, on the corner of Superior and Ohio Streets in Webster City. There will be a garage sale/flea market for anyone who wants to set up (no fee). There will also be a car/motorcycle show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with dash plaques given to every entry (no trophies).
The Boy Scouts will be providing food during the lunch hours. The Hamilton Heritage Hunters will be in the old courthouse. Members of RIPP (Research in Paranormal Phenomena) will be showing some of their equipment, including a new piece that is the only one of its kind in the state.
In the Depot, we have a new display this year: it's called The Electrolux Room. We have the last machines made from each of the three assembly lines on their last day of production. These appliances were signed by the production employees. Joyce Lateer will be the Electrolux Room's hostess, and there are many photo books and scrapbooks that you can look at.
The Art Sculptor Contest will announce the winners at 11:30 a.m. There will be a real-sized teepee you can see. The kids can ride "Smiley the Train" again this year; we will also have games and contests to entertain the younger children. This year we are adding a frog-jumping contest and a turtle race, so get out to the ponds and lakes and find your racers.Prizes will be given to the kids for all the games and contests.
There will be Doodlebugs on display. There will be other demonstrations and events as well. All of the buildings will be open to the public. Coffee and rolls will be sold in the morning, for you early morning flea marketers.
If you have any questions about reserving a spot for the garage sale/flea market or for the car show, please call (515) 297-0273.
