Riders on the recent RAGBRAI, that annual bike ride across the state, wrapped up the weeklong trek by dipping their bike tires in the Mississippi. Webster City officials hope that next year, riders will have a chance to dip their tires in the Boone River as they travel along the route.
Webster City is in the running to be a stop on the 2012 RAGBRAI route. Whether it's for an overnight stop or just as a pass-through town, think of the possible economic boon to our local motels, restaurants, convenience stores, campgrounds and other retail outlets from the influx of thousands of riders.
City officials are asking for letters of support which will be included with the official application. We urge you to take the time to write a letter and share why Webster City should be included on the next route. Send letters to Fuller Hall in care of Kent Harfst, or email to:?email@example.com.
This is another opportunity to showcase our community to the rest of Iowa and really, to the world.
