The city of Webster City has received an information packet from RAGBRAI officials and is in the process of completing an application to be considered to serve as a host town 2012 Part of this process involves having various organizations and individuals send letters of support asking RAGBRAI to consider having Webster City as a host town.

In the summer of 2012, RAGBRAI will celebrate 40 years of riding across Iowa. The dates for next summer's RAGBRAI XL are July 22-28, 2012. It is estimated that RAGBRAI will bring at least 15,000 riders and guests to each host community. RAGBRAI also brings a tremendous economic impact to the State of Iowa and host communities. RAGBRAI participants' expenditures accounted for over $24 million in direct sales during the week, according to an economic impact study conducted by the University of Northern Iowa's Sustainable Tourism and Environment Program at the 2008 RAGBRAI event.
