Former director surprised complaints weren’t brought to him

August 3, 2011
The Daily Freeman Journal

To the editor:

I recently found myself judged quite severely by some of those possessing the levers of power in the Webster City community. It has been states that I have made "inappropriate" comments or acted in a fashion unbecoming to what was expected of me as the director of the Kendall Young Library.?It astonishes me that not one of the individuals complaining to the Kendall Young Library Board of trustees ever came and shared their complaint in person with me.

I will continue to live my out my life consistent with how I believe that God expects me to live out a compassionate life in this "dog-eat-dog" world that all of us live in. There is not doubt that God is "the ground of my being (phrase coined by the theologian Paul Tillich) and that God sustains me in this troubled world. I?will continue to act in unorthodox ways in the future. This is likely to get me in trouble with those misusing their power but so be it. I will not live my life according to misguided dictates of others.
