To the editor:
We would like to thank the community for their past support of the Webster City Daycare Center. We want WCDC to be thought of as an asset to the community and we have strived to provide quality, cost-effective daycare to as many families as possible. In the past 2 years, our current director, Cari Feldmann has made many changes that have improved WCDC even more. We have been recognized by the state for our improvements by being awarded a 4-star rating for the Quality Rating System that the State of Iowa uses to rate all daycare centers. We are the only 4-star rated daycare in our three-county region which includes Hamilton, Wright, and Humboldt counties.
In addition to our daycare programs we have joined efforts with the Webster City Community Schools to provide the state sponsored free 4-year-old pre-school for the past three years and we house the Headstart program in our building. We hope to continue providing these services in the future.
As many of you know running a business can be very difficult and being a nonprofit makes it even harder to make ends meet. Our director has done a great job at writing grants and helping us to receive as much money through this avenue as possible. We are very excited about the two new pieces of playground equipment that were highlighted in the recent article in the Daily Freeman Journal and we thank the Webster City Community Schools and Building Families for contributing to this project.
Our plan for the next few years is to increase our fundraising efforts so that we can raise money for larger items. One of the things we need to do is replace all of our baby cribs by Dec. 31 because of recent changes in federal regulations that ban cribs with drop-down sides. We also want to continue to improve our outdoor play areas by buying additional equipment and a sunshade for each area so our children have a shaded place to play. In order to accomplish these things, we need the community's help with our fundraisers. Fundraisers that we have done in the past include the fall carnival and butter braid, cookie dough and candle sales.
Currently, we have partnered with the Midwest Rampage football team to offer a raffle for the installation of a new air conditioner or furnace. WCDC will receive part of the proceeds from this raffle so the more tickets that are sold, the more money WCDC will receive. The drawing will be Saturday at halftime of the Midwest Rampage game. If you are interested in buying tickets, contact WCDC at 832-6473, Fogle Heating and AC at 832-7974/297-3064 or any Midwest Rampage player.
We want Webster City to be proud that WCDC is part of the community so we are striving to make as many improvements as possible. We need your help to accomplish our goals
