Mayor Janet Adams received a bouquet of poppies this week as she met with American Legion Auxiliary members to proclaim Friday as Poppy Day in Webster City. On hand for the proclamation were, from left, Nadine Luppes, Mavis Coleman and Lorene Burnett. Auxiliary members will be passing out the poppies for a donation at Kmart, Hy-Vee and Fareway. The poppies are made by veterans in auxiliary-sponsored poppy shops that provide supplemental physical and psychological therapy to hospitalized and disabled veterans.
