Today is National Military Spouse Day. One person who will be celebrating that holiday is Stacy Wardell, of Webster City, as her husband, Ed Wardell, is currently deployed to Afghanistan.
"We were married April 10, 2010, and were together for two months before he was deployed," Wardell said. "It has been hard - I miss him every day."
She said that he is her best friend, a good daddy to their children and a loving husband.
"I miss having someone to talk to, the companionship," she said. "And he is just a great guy."
Wardell knows well about having family in the military - coming from generations that have served. She said that she is very proud of her husband.
"Sometimes I feel selfish because I want him here," she said. "It has been hard on the children, and hard for me being two parents at once.
I will do my part as a military wife and he will do his part as a soldier."
She said that she can't wait to be back into the day-to-day routine with him. But for now, when they are able to talk, the couple makes sure to say goodbye in a meaningful way.
"I love you forever and always no matter what," she said.
