Decades of dedication

April 1, 2011
The Daily Freeman Journal

Hundreds of workers left the Electrolux plant Thursday for the last time, thus closing a significant chapter of Webster City's manufacturing history. Even though the plant will be silent, the dedication of thousands of hardworking employees through the years will long be remembered.

Webster City has seen many changes to our employment landscape, and the Electrolux plant played an important role. The growth and expansion of the plant provided jobs for many thousands, and in some cases, multiple generations of area families.

What will not change or be forgotten is the the skill and industrious spirit of the employees who created quality American-made products. While Electrolux may not be here any longer, the work ethic of those employees will make Webster City a much more attractive location for whatever might come next.

The Daily Freeman Journal salutes and thanks the generations of people whose work has been so important to the economic well being of this community. But we also want to look forward to the next chapter of the Webster City story.
