The difficult economy, layoffs and plant closings have meant hard times for many families. But the Christmas season seems to spark generosity which we have seen in Hamilton County in great abundance in the past weeks.
More than 400 children will receive gifts through the efforts of all who helped with the Angel Tree. Toys, clothing and bicycles were distributed to area families last weekend.
Coat drives have been held in Hamilton and Webster counties to make sure that area children keep warm this winter.
The food pantry has received donations from many area groups and individuals to be sure that those in need can still have nutritious food for their families.
Most families have had to keep a close watch on their budgets, but it seems that many are still finding a few spare dollars to help those in need. Let's hope that same spirit of generosity will carry through the rest of the year, because the need will still be there even after the holidays are over.
