Next Friday is Black Friday, which means that everyone will be out battling for the best deals on everything from big screen TVs to small screen video games. Some retailers are even getting an early start on their holiday sales, because they know that price is going to be critical, especially this year.
Before we get completely caught up in the frenzy that is the Christmas shopping season, we'd like to ask you to think about a couple of things.
First, please do everything you can to shop local. Local retailers depend on you shopping with them to stay in business and Webster City depends on retailers for a vibrant and active downtown. There are lots of shops downtown that are ready and eager to help you find the perfect gift for everyone on your list.
Second, think about the people who may not be having a very good year, either through job loss, or other hardship and do what you can to help. There are lots of programs that exist in Webster City to help, including several through?Upper Des Moines Opportunity and the annual Toys for Tots drive. Even better, find something that you feel passionate about and volunteer to help make this a better community.
When we act locally, and shop locally, we make Webster City a better place for everyone.
