Saluting a caring organization

November 5, 2010
The Daily Freeman Journal

November is National Hospice and Palliative Care Month.

Hospice care is a valuable service which provides end of life care for both the patient and their family. In our community, Hamilton County Hospice provides services such as home care, physical therapy, skilled nursing and other services to help both the patient and their family.

Hospice care is covered most insurance (including Medicare and Medicaid) or can be provided on a sliding fee schedule for those who qualify. Past studies from the Health Care Financing Administration have shown that hospice care can reduce overall costs of end of life care by thousands of dollars, while allowing terminally ill patients the opportunity to stay at home in familiar surroundings.

We salute the work done by the caring team of physicians, nurses, social workers, home care aides, clergy and volunteers who provide a valuable service to our community.
