WEST DES MOINES - Twenty Farm Bureau leaders turned their attention from this year's crop to pending trade, energy, livestock health and environmental policy that threatens the future of agriculture and rural Iowa during a trip to Washington, D.C., in September. Members of Iowa Farm Bureau Federation's Ag Leaders Institute spoke with representatives from their respective congressional districts, as well as Iowa's two senators and various federal agencies, including the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Environmental Protection Agency.
Those participating in the trip included Matt Siefker, of Eagle Grove, and Aaron Fopma, of Blairsburg.
