Burke Risetter

2 1/2 years with the business

Background: I grew up in Webster City and graduated here way back in 1987. I?went to college for a few years and then began a family. I?have a son, Brandon, who is a junior at UNI, and a daughter, Megan, who will be a freshman at ICCC?in Fort Dodge. I?have been in the restaurant business all my life. My grandparents had the Goldroom, Maid-Rite and Dairy Queen. I worked in my teen days at DQ. People laugh, but I?bought my first moped working at DQ dipping Buster Bars and Dilly Bars. I have worked in the food service arena for 15 years, spending nine great years with Harkess Distributing, formerly in Lemars. I?then moved to a different sales position with Martin Bros. Distributing Co. out of Cedar Falls. Both were beneficial in the experience and education I received while employed there.

Why I do what I do: I enjoy a challenge in life. I?attempt to give 110 percent in everything I do. I?knew this business was very difficult and it had always been a dream of both myself and my Uncle Kevin.

What makes my job unique: Home-cooked meals, great service, great food and a clean and comfortable atmosphere.

What do I do in my spare time: Visit my kids, work out (run, walk, bike a few times a week), spending time with my friends and family.

How I?give back to my community: Any way we can. We work with the Chamber on outings such as sponsoring golf holes with prizes with the Chamber Golf Outing, assist with community activities, sponsorship of our Hometown Rampage, local boys and girls Little League teams and Greater Des Moines back-to-school promos. We have a birthday and anniversary club that we send a card with a $5 or $10 gift certificate for randomly selected customers. We have also sponsored movies for kids, the D.A.R.E. program and Supper with Santa.

My inspiration: My Grandpa Sam Ades and my business partner at the Gridiron and

uncle, Kevin Ades.
