Thirty-eight Hamilton County students were honored Monday night by the Webster City Rotary Club for their achievements and leadership.
Students from Northeast Hamilton, South Hamilton and Webster City high schools were the guests of honor at the annual Rotary Leadership Banquet, held at Faith United Methodist Church.
Principals Larry Hunt, of Webster City, Tim Felderman, of South Hamilton, and Pat Hocking, of Northeast Hamilton, introduced their students and shared many of the young leaders' accomplishments. Each student was presented with a certificate from the Rotary club.
Roger Ferguson, the owner of a consultant company in Des Moines, and the founder of a program to assist foster children who are aging out of the system, was the guest speaker. He told the students that while grades were important, they may possess skill sets that they have yet to discover that will help them be successful in life.
Following his comments, Rotary President Tami Hejlik presented Ferguson with a check for his Foster aunts and uncles program. The local club also made a $750 donation to Webster City Meals on Wheels.
