Stanhope library fund raiser gets boost from I-Jobs
Grant brings total raised to more than $700,000The City of Stanhope and the Stanhope Public Library Foundation has received word that a grant in the amount of $500,000 from the State of Iowa I-Jobs fund has been approved for the proposed new Stanhope Public Library/Community Center.
Newly appointed librarian Dee Weir, " We're very excited about this. Polly Hayes and the foundation has worked very hard to get this done," she said.
"Everybody in town is excited," Weir said." It really is great for Stanhope."
Foundation officials said the approval of the grant, in addition to funds raised to date and in kind funds, means that the project has reached approximately $701,000.
The new Stanhope Library/Community Center will be a state of the art facility that is L.E.E.D. energy efficiency certified and will also provide a storm shelter for the community. In addition to the Library and City Offices, a large public meeting area will be included.
Fund raising will continue for the new facility and all funds donated are treated as tax-exempt by the Internal Revenue Service.
