The Hamilton County Extension Council is hosting a farewell open house for Hamilton County Extension Education Director Dr. David Brown from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Extension Office, 311 Bank St., in Webster City.
Brown has served as county director since 2003. Dr. Brown has served as a board member of Enhance Hamilton County Foundation and Power Up Youth and led programming including Partnering In Communities and Powerful Tools for Caregivers.
All County Extension director (CEED) positions were eliminated as a part of Iowa State University's restructuring plan, announced April 30th by Jack Payne, vice president for ISU Extension and Outreach. Extension is streamlining the organization to address state budget cuts, make the best use of available resources and position staff to meet the critical needs of Iowans. For more information on the restructuring, visit the ISU Extension Web site, www.extension.iastate.edu/restructuring.htm.
Dr. Brown has accepted a position with Health Net as a Military and Family Life Consultant. He will serve guard families and units across western Iowa.
Brett Ahrens, Extension Council President said, "The Council would like to thank David for all the programs that he brought to our county over the last six years. He was a big asset during his time at the Extension Office for Hamilton County and we will miss him. The Council wishes him well in his new venture with the National Guard."
The public is invited and encouraged to attend the open house Friday at the Extension office..
