Former Electrolux workers invited to benefit meetings

July 27, 2009
The Daily Freeman Journal

Electrolux Major Appliances in Webster City has been certified by the U.S. Department of Labor for retraining benefits under the Trade Act of 2009 (Petition # 70123). The workers who have been laid off during the time period of May 18, 2008, through the current date, are being notified by mail of their eligibility to apply for Trade Adjustment Assistance (Trade Act retraining benefits).

Informational meetings have been scheduled to provide the dislocated workers with the menu of Trade Act benefits that will be available to choose from once they have been laid off, they have completed the initial Trade Act eligibility paperwork, and their individual eligibility has been verified.

All Trade Act benefits will be discussed in detail, including the timeframes for accessing the services and the paperwork that must be completed for each service. The initial Trade Act eligibility paperwork will also be completed at these meetings.

These informational meetings will be held Thursday, Aug. 6, through Sunday, Aug. 9, at locations in Webster City and Fort Dodge. The affected workers will be receiving meeting announcements by mail very soon. Due to the limited seating available, the meeting announcements specify a particular date/time and meeting location.
