Stanhope school alumni invited to annual reunion

All alumni of the former Stanhope High School are invited to attend this years reunion and banquet planned for 6:30 p.m. Friday evening, July 17. The event will be held at the Ellsworth, IA Community Center. Graduates of South Hamilton are welcome to join the alumni to see their Stanhope friends.

Special recognition will be given to the Class of 1959 as they celebrate their fifty year mark following graduation. The members of the class include Verla Robinson Burgess, Phyllis Peterson Swanson, Jerry Fenner, Ralph Fuller, James McHugh, Norma Ford Schultz, Roger Linderman, Judith Young Cramer, Jon Young, Robert Moen, David Samuelson, Judy Robertson Christiansen, David Fosberg, Sherry Kreutner Louis, Jerry Tolstrup, David Van Ginkel, Ronald Miller, Roger Peter, Helen Hove Peter, Helen Murken Sheesley, Gary Erickson, Betty Ray Parsons, Gerald Reinsch, and Merle Krug. Four members of the class, Danny Johnson, Jay Hanson, Dennis Holenda, and Wayne Olsen are deceased.

The Stanhope Alumni Board met recently to prepare and mail flyers announcing this year's event to all Stanhope graduates for which they have current addresses. Current board members serving include Arnold and Donna Ostrem, Wade and Helen Sheesley, Stan and Bonnie Housberg, Duane and Shirley Wheeler, Barbara Schweppe, Jon & Peg Young, Barb and Gary Wing, Les and Doris Mathre, and Veronica and Jerry Johnson.

A catered meal will be supplied. Reservations can be made now by sending $13 per person to Shirley Wheeler, 1040 Forty Oaks Drive, Story City, IA 50248. Reservation must be received by July 13.

The Stanhope Alumni Banquet & Reunion will precede the Stanhope Lions sponsored Watermelon Day festivities which will be held Saturday, July 18.
