Two charged in Jewell toddler’s death
JEWELL - A Radcliffe couple has been charged in the December 2008 death of a toddler in Jewell.
Michael Ray Meeker Jr., 29, of Radcliffe, was charged Monday with first-degree murder in Hamilton County Magistrate Court in the death of 15-month-old Tanner Doran.
Doran was found dead in his home in Jewell on Dec. 1, 2008, and the cause of death was ruled by the State Medical Examiners Office to be blunt force trauma to the head, according to information from the Iowa Department of Public Safety.
"Death occurred under circumstances manifesting an extreme indifference to human life," according to Hamilton County court documents.
Meeker is being held on a $1 million cash bond in the Hamilton County Jail. A preliminary hearing has been set for June 29.
Meeker was also charged with child endangerment resulting in death.
The toddlers mother, Angela Marie Meeker, 21, of Radcliff, was also charged with child endangerment causing death.
On Nov. 30, 2008, in Jewell, Angela Meeker committed a child endangerment act which resulted in the death of her son, according to court documents.
She is being held in Hamilton County Jail under a $500,000 bond. The preliminary hearing was set for June 29.
