Do you know someone who may be retiring in the next five to 10 years? There is a lot to learn in order to make the best possible retirement decisions. Iowa State University Extension, together with Elderbridge Agency on Aging and Iowa Central Community College are sponsoring the annual "Ready, Set, Retire!" workshop on Saturday, March 21. The free half-day workshop runs from 9 a.m. to noon at the Applied Science and Technology Bldg. on the Iowa Central campus in Fort Dodge.
With eight topics to select from, participants will choose three one hour sessions led by experts. All speakers are non-commercial, with no intent to sell any products, and workshops have been rated highly by past participants. Topics include: Social Security; Medicare and Supplement Insurance; Strategies for Late Savers; Investing During Retirement; Second Career - Starting Your Own Business; Long-Term-Care Insurance; Getting Legal Affairs in Order; and "Welcome to Retirement," a simulation of retirement expenses.
Pre-registration is not necessary, but officials suggest arriving early to sign in and enjoy refreshments, which will be available beginning at 8:30 a.m., courtesy of Susan Ahlers Leman, First American Wealth Management Group.
