BLAIRSBURG - Trey Seiser put the Northeast Hamilton boys' basketball team on his broad shoulders and carried it to a second victory in as many outings here on Thursday.
Seiser, a 6-foot-5 junior center, scored 25 points and yanked down 15 rebounds, and the Trojans overcame a four-point halftime deficit to take down Southeast Webster-Grand, 59-50, in their home debut this season.
"Trey had a gargantuan night down low for us, both with points and rebounds," Northeast Hamilton head coach Brandon Kelley said. "I was pretty happy with how we played. We cut our turnovers down from 23 (in the first game) to 14 and, offensively, we ran our sets pretty well and got some open looks."
Dustin Flatebo gave NEH another strong presence inside with nine points, and Houston Harreld rained in nine points from the outside. The two combined for 11 rebounds as well. Zac Seaman scored four points and dished out eight assists from his point guard position.
The Trojans outscored Southeast Webster-Grand 19-11 in the third quarter and took a 46-42 advantage into the final eight minutes on the heels of a Kevin Schimp 3-pointer at the end of the period. Schimp chipped in five points, as did Kyle Klaver.
Taylor Dahlstrom poured in 22 points for SEW-G and Cory Himan added 14.
NEH will be back on its home court Friday night to face Waterloo Walnut Ridge Baptist Academy in an Iowa Star Conference contest.
