As the economy tightens nationwide, The Daily Freeman-Journal is joining with local merchants this holiday season to help local consumers put money back in their own pocket, while at the same time encouraging residents to shop locally.
To help build excitement for the promotion, both Fareway and HyVee are joining with The Daily Freeman-Journal to give away a snowblower valued at nearly $1,000.
Here's how it works: when customers shop at participating businesses, they will receive a $1 grocery voucher for every $20 they spend at the participating stores, with some exclusions.
From left, Matt Shannon of Fareway, Ryan Cassady of Cassady Brothers, and Lynn Reincsh of HyVee with the snowblower to be given away in the shop local program.
In addition, each of the vouchers will serve as a registration form for the snowblower to be given away on Monday, Dec. 8. As the consumer redeems the voucher, they will automatically be entered in the contest.
To receive the grocery vouchers, shop at any of these participating businesses; Casady Brothers, Critter Nation, Classic Carpet and Interiors, Ted's Car Wash, Thrifty White Pharmacy, The Crowded Closet, True Value Hardware, Osweilers, and Gilberts.
The vouchers can be redeemed at the customer's choice, HyVee or Fareway, on Monday, Dec. 8, from 3 to 7 p.m. The vouchers will be offered at the participating stores now through Sunday, Dec. 7.
