One teen killed, five injured in Webster County wreck

BURNSIDE - One teen-ager was killed and five others injured when the vehicle they were riding in went out of control on a gravel road in Webster County Wednesday afternoon. The accident happened shortly after 3:30 p.m. between Burnside, home of Southwest Webster School, and Dayton, where all the boys reside.
The Iowa State Patrol reported today that Chase Allen Dodson, 14, Dayton, was killed in the accident.
The tragedy occurred about one mile southeast of Burnside when a 1997 Pontiac van driven by Cody Kelso Breitsprecher, 15, Dayton, was southbound on Quayle Avenue. The driver lost control and the van entered the east ditch, rolling several times, according to patrol reports.
Breitsprecher was transported to Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge for treatment.
Also injured and transported to Trinity Regional Hospital were: Michael Alan Pals, 14; Austin Davis Diehl, 14; Austin Ferguson, 14; and Danny Patrick Fye, 14; all of Dayton.
Assisting at the scene were the Webster County Sheriff's Office, Dayton EMS and the Lehigh Volunteer Fire Department.
