The Daily Freeman-Journal this week is pleased to welcome Andy Hallman to its newsroom as a general assignment reporter and photographer.
Hallman is a May 2008 graduate of Iowa State University with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Spanish. While at Iowa State, he was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society and Pi Sigma Alpha Political Science Honor Society.
Hallman will be covering a variety of city and county governmental boards and working in all facets of news gathering for The Daily Freeman-Journal.

"I am looking forward to meeting the residents of Webster City and Hamilton County and becoming acquainted with this community. I've gotten to know a number of people already," Hallman said.
A native of Pocahontas and graduate of Pocahontas High School, Hallman brings six years of experience in the newspaper business. He began working at the Pocahontas Record-Democrat while still in high school and continued to work for the weekly newspaper while on breaks from Iowa State.
At Iowa State, Hallman served as a fund-raiser for the Iowa State University Foundation. He also served as a Community Advisor in the ISU Department of Residence. Additionally, he was a research assistant for the Department of Political Science.
