Trail to Briggs Woods may be done by August
By Tracy Runneberg — Daily Freeman-Journal Staff WriterThe Webster City Parks and Recreation Commission met briefly Thursday evening at the Prairie Stone Shelter at Kendall Young Park. After all the weather problems earlier this spring, Recreation and Public Grounds Director Kent Harfst stated that a good portion of the Boone River Trail has been poured, and they are hoping, weather permitting, to be completed by August.
Harfst also reported that Kendall Young Park is still closed on the west side due to the early flood damage, but the actual park has re-opened. The city is looking to fix erosion problems on Brewer Creek Trail soon.
The commission approved asking the city council to again extend the outdoor pool season this year, past the current August 19th closing date. Hours would be similar to the last couple seasons. Details on definite times will still need to be worked out, but the hours will probably extend into the first week of school.
President Chris Kehoe and commission member Ann Kness brought discussion items to the table for next months meeting on August 21. They included trail areas that need attention, and ideas for Nokomis Park.
