Farm lease workshop coming in August

July 8, 2008
The Daily Freeman Journal

Learn about the latest information on farmland leasing at a three-hour interactive workshop that will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 12, beginning at 9 a.m. The location is the Hamilton County Extension Office in Webster City located at 311 Bank St. Facilitating the program will be Kelvin Leibold, ISU Extension Farm Management Field Specialist for North Central Iowa.

A highlight of this workshop will be the latest 2008 cash rental rate survey results. These rates are noted for all Iowa's counties and are the results of a survey of farmers, landowners, lenders, real estate brokers, and professional farm managers collected in March 2008.

Flexible leases will also be presented at most of these workshops as an alternative to a cash rent lease. Crop production costs, grain prices and maintaining soil fertility will be stressed at these workshops.

The registration cost for this interactive workshop is $20 per individual or $30 per couple. Also included will be a 100-page Farmland Leasing booklet, related training materials and refreshments. Please pre-register on or before Wednesday, Aug. 6th, by contacting the Hamilton County ISU Extension Office at (515) 832-9597. Brochures and additional information are also available at www.extension.iastate.edu/hamilton.
