Vantec to open new plant in Nebraska

June 2, 2008
The Daily Freeman Journal
Vantec, Inc. of Webster City has announced that the business will be adding an additional plant to their operations. The new plant will be located in Falls City, Neb., located south of Omaha, near Interstate 29.

Vantec is a custom injection molder, catering to many different original equipment manufacturers located throughout the United States and abroad. Vantec officials said they anticipated starting operations in Falls City on or around Nov. 1, 2008, in a 40,000 sq. ft. facility with the ability to double in size as the need arises. The company plans to employ up to 25 people as the plant starts up with employment expected to grow from there.

In a statement from Vantec, officials said, "Vantec would like to thank all of our customers and our employees, for helping us grow the business and employ more people in Webster City, and next in Falls City. Vantec has grown by helping our customers achieve their goals, solving their problems, and are often asked how much more we can take on. We are excited to be able to employ more people and help take on more opportunities with our customers, and potential customers. We are honored that our customers are so loyal and have given us the opportunity. We know there are many molders out there, with many of them closing their doors instead of opening new ones."

Company officials said the plant was locating in the southeast corner of Nebraska to help satisfy the need of a major customer in the area, and to take advantage of a readily available workforce.

"Falls City and the State of Nebraska have been very helpful in this process. Falls City will be a very nice community to grow with, and the state of Nebraska has a strong willingness to help businesses grow and remain in the state," according to the Vantec statement.

The business will celebrate 25 years in operation in Webster Dec. 1, 2008. Bev and Willie Van Wyhe started the company with two employees and two machines. One of the first employees, James Woods, is still with the company today. Vantec currently employs more than 200 people in a 145,000 sq. ft. facility, with 44 machines, at its Webster City location. The plant has operated round-the-clock, seven days a week for the past 15 years.
