A tax return workshop for people who need to file a tax return in order to claim the Economic Stimulus rebate payment is planned for Tuesday morning, March 25.
This year, many people who normally do not need to file a tax return, should do so because that is how they will qualify to receive an Economic Stimulus rebate of $300-$600. The typical example is a person whose only income is from Social Security, Railroad Retirement, or Veterans Benefits.
As of now, all of these tax returns must be filed on paper, rather than electronically. To assist these individuals in preparing this simple tax return, ISU Extension and RSVP are cooperating to conduct a workshop on Tuesday March 25, 10:30 a.m. at the Webster City Senior Center.
Workshop participants will complete their own tax return with pen and paper, with instruction and assistance from Barb Wollan, ISU Extension Family Resource Management Specialist and coordinator of a local volunteer tax preparation project. RSVP staff and other tax volunteers will also be on hand to assist. Participants are welcome to bring a family member or friend, as well, to assist them.
Pre-registration is required for this workshop. Contact RSVP at 832-2525 to sign up.
