WEBSTER CITY — What's better than winning once? Winning twice. The highly combustible offense that the Webster City baseball team has grown so accustomed to in recent weeks took a backseat to the pitching performance of junior right-hander Brent Nelson in the opener of a North Central Conference doubleheader with Algona Tuesday evening at Lynx Field. Webster City then got back to its old tricks — hitting the ball hard from the first to the last inning — in the nightcap. Add it all up and it equaled a sweep for the Lynx. Behind Nelson's gem, they took Game 1, 5-2, and followed it up with an 8-7 triumph in Game 2. "It's tough to play well for 14 innings, but that's what we did," Webster City head coach Matt Zoske said. "This was just really big for us to get this sweep. We maybe showed up a little bit flat and that's kind of a hangover from (Monday's 15-13 loss to Hampton-Dumont), but once we got going we really played well.
